Project Brief: WikiPavilion is a new pop-up structure designed to support the Archive-opia project. It will relocate to different locations in the city, as a venue for exhibitions and events. It is also a prototype of the WikiHouse Skylark system: an ingenious and low-cost construction method, CNC-cut from standard sheets of plywood and slotted together without structural fixings. As its name implies, the WikiHouse system is also 'open-source', designed to democratise housing design. WikiPavilion as part of Archiveopia, will appear in different locations across Milton Keynes during the month of October (2022), including Kents Hill on 14th and 15th, Middleton Hall from 18th to 22nd, and MK Central Library from 26th to 30th. We've been hard at work developing a new version of WikiHouse targeted at community buildings! Following on our experience with WikiHouse Wren building the Scout Hut we've developed a new version of the WikiHouse system which is more flexible, just as strong and designed for off/away-from site assembly by volunteers. Key features are: - Split frame construction makes manual handling of frames on site easier than ever and enables the construction of much larger assemblies of frames. - Up to 2.4m grid spacing (up from 1.2m with Wren) giving more flexibility for the positioning of doors and windows and decreasing material costs. - Infill cassettes remove the need for an internal skin of plywood increasing efficiency and allowing for quicker construction once the initial assembly is complete. Cassettes can be pre-insulated and wrapped in membranes off-site by volunteers before being installed . - Cassettes and frames now redesigned to be installed from inside your WikiHouse so you can construct your building even closer to boundary walls. - Rigid box frames carry moment forces around corners requiring no cross bracing and naturally create open-vaulted modern spaces. - Cassettes can be installed between frames (horizontally) or "freestanding" in vertical position and be fixed only at top and bottom. WikiHouse Magpie is still as reliable, sustainable and cost effective as is predecessor and now with all these other benefits!

The WikiHouse Foundation has developed a plywood building system that can be downloaded anywhere in the world. Plywood pieces can be cut locally on a CNC router and assembled on site by anyone, using readily available tools. A CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine is run by a computer programme. Plywood is cut by two types of CNC machine: CNC routers, which cut both two- and three-dimensionally with rotating cutting bits called end mills, and CNC laser cutters, which use laser beams to cut two-dimensionally. Both machines allow much faster, more complex and precise cutting than was previously possible. Plywood is a particularly good material for CNC cutting because it is strong, stable and made to a standard, worldwide specification. Its strength and stability mean it can be easily jointed – pieces can be cut from a sheet and notched together, without additional fixtures. Due to the material's standardisation, a design can be reliably cut anywhere in the world, using a single digital file. -Каркас дома изготовлен из влагостойкой фанеры (не осб!) 18мм на станках ЧПУ , что исключает ошибки и влияние человеческого фактора. Сама фанера как материал по сравнению с ОСБ гораздо прочней и долговечней и не разрушается при попадании воды. Крепление полов и стен осуществляется замковыми соединениями, что предает дополнительную прочность и в тоже время пластичность , а значит у вас не будут образовываться трещины на стенах, по сравнении с менее пластичными материалами такими как газоблок и кирпич. PS Мы полностью разделяем мнение автора, ролик которого можно посмотреть по ссылке ниже, Метал -король материалов, Фанера-королева! :)Хорошего просмотра. 🤍 -Утепление .Дом утепляется целлюлозной ватой(целлюлозный утеплитель) методом задувки, все ниши заполняются полностью не оставляя пустот(мостиков холода) , что позволяет избежать ошибок при утеплении. Толщина утеплителя 250мм пол, стены, потолок. Класс горючести Г2 , в утеплитель добавлены антипирены(соли), которые делают его не горючим. В нем не живут насекомые и грызуны. 🤍 250мм целлюлозы = 300 мм минеральной ваты = 770 мм газоблока = 830 мм цельный деревянный брус = 2340мм кирпичной кладки - Фундамент. Дом стоит на фундаменте из столбиков, что позволяет устанавливать дом на склонах , также это обеспечивает защиту от воды и подтопления(хорошо для горных районов) .Дешевле ленточных фундаментов и фундаментов виде в монолитной плиты. -Модульная конструкция позволяет менять габариты дома и планировать оконные и дверные проемы относительно размещения дома на участке с учетом сторон света.(больше окон на южной стороне, меньше или отсутствие на северной). -Экономия! Еще один из плюсов , это экономия на логистике, так как все материалы на дом доставляются в одной машине. I also show you how to decide on the length / depth of your home, and how to use the mid level combs to add a FLAT ROOF on your build using the regular floor beams.
